Valentine Treats and Sweets

Valentine’s Day
Marshmallow Pops
This one is the perfect Valentine’s Day craft for kids.
Who needs Valentine cards when you can pass out these yummy Marshmallowy Morsels of Goodness?
These Marshmallow Pops take under twenty minutes to     make from start to finish and they turn out adorable!

All you will need are…
·      Marshmallows
·      White chocolate (good quality)
·      Sprinkles
·      Crushed Graham crackers…Coconut…etc.
·      Popsicle sticks or paper straws
·      Food coloring.

1.   First cut a small slit in the top of the marshmallows to allow you to insert your straw. If you skip this step you just might mash your marshmallows!

2.  Insert the straws or Popsicle sticks and put them in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes. They do not take long to freeze and by doing this, the marshmallow is adhered more securely to the straw.

3.  Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate in the microwave on medium heat and stir every 30 seconds. White chocolate seems to burn a lot easier than regular chocolate so watch it closely! Add your food coloring if desired.

4. Next up is the fun part: decorating! Dip the frozen marshmallows in the white chocolate. You will want to tap the excess white chocolate off. The frozen marshmallow will make the chocolate harden quickly so don’t wait too long before dipping them into the sprinkles.

Red Velvet Molten Cakes
These easy molten cakes start with Red Velvet Cake Mix and are the perfect Valentine's Day dessert... Red Velvet really is the perfect quintessential
Valentine's Day dessert.
Who does not adore a good Molten Lava Cake?

For the Mini Cakes
  • 1 cup of boxed red velvet cake mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 egg
For the Molten Filling
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup half & half
  • 2 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp. powdered sugar
For the Cream Cheese Icing
  • 2 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp. milk
Instructions
·      In a small saucepan, heat the white chocolate chips and half & half over medium heat stirring constantly. Once the chocolate chips are melted and creamy, stir in the cream cheese. Continue heating until the cream cheese is melted and well incorporated, stirring constantly.
·      Remove from the heat and whisk in the powdered sugar.
·      Pour into a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, stirring 1-2 times as it chills.
·      Prepare your mini Bundt pans (you could also use a tin for large cupcakes or muffins) by spraying with cooking spray. Set aside.
·      Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
·      In a large bowl, beat together the red velvet cake mix, water, canola oil, and egg. Divide the batter evenly between the 4 prepared mini Bundt pans.
·      Take the chilled cream cheese/white chocolate mixture from the fridge.
·      Drop a generous rounded tablespoonful of the mixture into the center of each Bundt cake. Press down with the back of a wooden spoon. Don't worry if the white chocolate mixture isn't completely covered. The cake will bake up around it.
·      Place the mini Bundt pans on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15-18 minutes, or until set.
·      Allow to cool in the pans for 10-15 minutes, and then transfer to a wire rack to cool to warm.
·      While the red velvet molten cakes are cooling, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a small mixing bowl. Whisk in the vanilla and milk.
·      Serve the cakes warm with dollop of the cream cheese icing on top. Garnish with Valentine sprinkles, if desired.
**Note- the bottoms of the mini Bundt cakes will probably bake up rounded. Use a bread knife or a serrated knife and just trim a little off the bottoms of the cake so they will sit flat on the plates.
**Even if you are not a fan of red velvet, you could always substitute the red velvet cake mix in this recipe for a flavor of cake mix that you love more. Of course, it won't be as Valentine red pretty...

Cupid’s Donut Hole Arrows…
Why not make a few of Cupid’s Arrows… complete with
Donut Holes?

This cute and simple DIY is a perfect treat for this
Valentine’s Day

It does not have to be Donut Holes. Mini Donuts…Fruit…or even Veggies will work! Let’s get real…anything Donut
related is the Best option!!

Materials
  • Bamboo skewers
  • Glitter card stock (or any card stock)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hot glue gun
  • Donut holes or other treats

Steps
1.   Cut your bamboo skewers to approximately 6 inches long.

2.  Create a template for an arrowhead and tail with heavy card stock. Trace the templates on the back of your glitter card stock, or any other card stock you choose. Trace 2 tails and two heads per skewer.

3.  Carefully cut each shape. Start with the arrow tails. Line a bead of hot glue on one side of your arrow tail and press together to another matching piece, glitter side facing outward. Make sure the two arrow tails line up evenly before the glue sets. Place the end of the bamboo skewer directly in the center of the two pieces of card stock. Line another bead of hot glue inside the card stock, beside the skewer, and press firmly together until the glue sets.

4. Place your donut holes on the skewer. I put three on each one but you can choose to use more per arrow.

5.  Follow step 3 again but with the arrowheads instead. When it’s time to glue them together, place the opposite end of the skewer in the center of the arrowheads and glue together. And there you have it! A fun and easy way to make it look like Cupid left tasty treats at your Valentine’s party.
